What’s the Law: Carry Gun Registration while hunting

WHAT’S THE LAW?

BY DARRYL CHOY

TOPIC: Carrying gun registration papers while hunting

Question: While legally hunting, must I have my firearm registration papers in my possession?

Answer: No. Chapter 134 HRS does not require you to have any firearm registration in your possession while hunting. Presently, the Department of Land and Natural Resources does not have a rule that requires hunters to carry a copy of the firearms permit with them. (Additionally, many of our hunting firearms are not registered since they were acquired before July 1994.)
